Frequently asked questions
What does Card Collector DB do?
Browse releases, checklists, and individual card versions across sports cards, trading card games, and other collector cards. With an account, track your copies, Want List, orders, and cards available for trade.
What does Beta mean?
The site is still being developed. Features may change and problems may occur. Future plans have not yet been finalized; use Contact Support to report a problem or suggest an improvement.
Can I browse without an account?
Guests can browse releases, Search, card details, Help & Support, and the public changelog. Sign in to manage a private collection, use personal reports, favorite releases, or send support messages.
Where can I find site updates?
Open the product-version link in the footer or visit /changelog. The changelog provides one public summary for each day changes are released and displays the latest Beta version included in that day’s update.
What do Owned, Wanted, Ordered, and For Trade mean?
Owned records cards you physically hold. For Trade also represents physically held cards available to trade. Wanted records copies you would like to obtain; Ordered records copies you are waiting to receive. Wanted and Ordered do not count as physically held. You can want another copy of a version you already own.
How do Favorite Releases work?
Sign in and select Favorite on Browse Releases or a release workspace. Your shortcuts appear in Favorite Releases on the homepage and in the favorites-only Browse Releases view. Favoriting does not add any card to your collection.
What does Missing Cards include?
Missing Cards covers checklists where you have positive Owned or For Trade holdings. Held includes Owned and For Trade cards, with each distinct collectible version counted once; duplicate copies do not increase completion. Base and parallel versions count separately. Wanted and Ordered annotations do not make a missing version held. Completion totals cover selected versions; search filters only the missing detail rows.
How is serial-numbering status different from my copy's serial number?
Catalog status describes whether a version is serial numbered: Serial numbered, Not serial numbered, or Unknown. A known print limit may appear as Serial numbered to 30; a confirmed numbered version can have an unknown limit. Your copy's recorded number is separate, such as #7/30 or #7 when the limit is unknown. Never infer a copy number from the print limit.
Which collection reports and exports are available?
Collection Reports offers Collection Inventory, Want List, Trade List, Serial-Numbered Cards, and Missing Cards. Use the report's Export CSV or print control. Missing Cards exports the complete matching selection, not just the visible page. Release checklists also have print and export options for signed-in collectors.
What is the difference between a release, an insert, and a parallel?
A release contains separate Base, insert, and parallel checklists. Each version is a distinct collectible with its own images and quantities. A parallel may cover only some parent cards; the catalog lists only versions that actually exist.
Are card images tied to one copy that I own?
No. Front and back images represent one specific catalog version, such as Base or an Orange parallel. Your personal copies share those catalog images.
Who can see my collection?
Your collection records are private to your account unless an administrator deliberately grants a role permission to view or edit all collections.
How do I add several cards from one release?
Choose Add cards to my collection, then Bulk set entry. You can set a separate quantity for every card before saving.
How do I import a card checklist?
Open the release and its checklist workspace, then choose Import multiple cards. Select the exact checklist and confirm its serial-numbering rules. Upload CSV or Excel, or paste rows, using Quick or Detailed checklist import. Review the preview and resolve highlighted problems before submitting for catalog approval.
What happens when an imported team or player is not recognized?
Use the preview to select an approved team and verified player, request a new team, identify a new person, edit a row, or remove it. Resolve every highlighted issue and duplicate before submission. A catalog administrator then reviews the import.
How do I report incorrect catalog information?
Choose Contact Support above, select Incorrect card or checklist information, and provide the release, checklist, card number, and correction. Include a public source when available; do not send passwords or private collection information.
How do I request a missing release or checklist?
Choose Request a release or checklist above. This opens the same support form with the catalog category selected. Include the release name, year, publisher, requested checklist, and a public checklist source if available.
How do I contact support or get account help?
Choose Contact Support above and sign in to send a message. Select Site problem, Account or sign-in help, Feature suggestion, Other, or the catalog category. Messages are saved for the site team to review; no response time is guaranteed. If you cannot sign in, use the sign-in page's password-reset option.
Use AI to prepare a complete-release workbook
You can attach a publisher PDF checklist to an AI tool, then copy this prompt. Review the resulting workbook before uploading it; AI must not guess missing facts.

Read the attached trading-card checklist and create an Excel workbook for Card Collector DB's Complete Release Import. Do not invent information; leave unknown values blank or use UNKNOWN only where the rules below allow it. Create these worksheets with exactly these headers: Release Requirement: exactly one data row; the worksheet name is Release only. Year | Publisher | Brand | Release | Release Category | Franchise | Sport | Team | Release Date | Release Notes | Source Checklists Checklist Type | Checklist Name | Parent Checklist | Parallel Name | Serial Numbered Status | Serial Numbered To | Checklist Notes Cards Card Key | Parent Card Key | Card Checklist | Card Number | Name | Team | Serial Numbered Status | Serial Numbered To | Card Notes People on Cards Optional Sports Cards worksheet; use one row per identified person on a multi-person card. The worksheet name is People on Cards only. Card Key | Person Name | Team | Appearance | Display Order Subjects on Cards Optional worksheet; include only reusable identities supported by the source. The worksheet name is Subjects on Cards only. Card Key | Subject Key | Subject Name | Subject Type | Appearance | Display Order | External Source | External Identifier | Subject Notes Rules: 1. The Release sheet has one row. Release is the product/release name only; do not repeat Year or Publisher in it. Use Release Category for the top-level category, such as Sports Cards or Trading Card Game. Put the game identity in Franchise. Sports Cards may use Sport and Team; Trading Card Game requires Franchise and must leave Sport and Team blank. Never put Pokémon TCG, Magic: The Gathering, or another franchise in the legacy Sport or Category field. Brand is the optional product line when it differs from Publisher. Pokemon is normalized to Pokémon in brand and franchise fields; searches accept either spelling. Use the publisher's official spelling and YYYY-MM-DD for a known Release Date. 2. Checklists must include exactly one BASE row. For BASE and INSERT rows, use Checklist Name and leave Parent Checklist and Parallel Name blank. For PARALLEL rows, leave Checklist Name blank; provide Parent Checklist and Parallel Name. A parallel is related to its parent checklist, not automatically to every parent card. 3. Cards must use the Card Checklist label: the Base/insert checklist name, or Parent Checklist — Parallel Name for a parallel. Generate a unique, stable Card Key for every card, such as BASE-B-1 or COMPASS-C-1. Card Key and Parent Card Key are import references, not public card numbers. 4. Use Parent Card Key only for a PARALLEL card that corresponds to a specific card in its immediate parent checklist. Never infer a parent from row position. Leave it blank if unknown or not applicable. 5. Preserve printed card numbers exactly and store Card Number cells as text, retaining leading zeros, prefixes, punctuation, and slashes without Excel numeric or date conversion. An asterisk used only as a PDF legend marker must not become part of the card number; move that explanation to Checklist Notes. 6. Serial Numbered Status values: Checklists use NO, YES, MIXED, or UNKNOWN. Cards use INHERIT, NO, YES, or UNKNOWN. Provide Serial Numbered To only with YES, as a positive whole number, and only when the denominator is established by the source. YES with a blank limit means confirmed serial numbered with no known denominator; UNKNOWN means the source does not establish whether it is serial numbered. Use INHERIT only when the card should follow its checklist setting. Do not guess a print run or assign an individual copy serial number. 7. Each Cards row needs Name. Use the player or subject exactly as printed. For Sports Cards, Cards Team is optional compatibility information for a single-team or team-focused card. For a multi-person sports card, do not combine teams in one cell: add one People on Cards row per person and enter the team applicable to that person on the card. Non-sports cards must leave Team blank and must not use People on Cards. Use People Appearance: Featured player, Cameo, Coach, or Other; Display Order begins at 1. 8. Put PDF-wide legends and checklist-wide facts in Checklist Notes. Put only individual-card facts in Card Notes. 9. Subjects on Cards never replaces or rewrites the printed Cards Name. Add a row only for a reusable identity established by the source; title-only cards are valid. Subject Type must be Person, Character, Creature or species, Team, Organization, Object, Location, Event, or Other. Appearance must be Featured subject, Cameo, Creator or artist, Team or group, or Other. Use the same optional Subject Key for repeated appearances of one proposed identity. Supply External Source and External Identifier together or leave both blank. Do not assume every Pokémon title is a creature, and do not turn Magic card names into characters or creatures without evidence. 10. Before delivery, check that Card Keys are unique, every Card Checklist matches a defined checklist label, every supplied Parent Card Key refers to a card in the immediate parent checklist, and every person/subject row references an existing Card Key. Account for every source-listed collectible without inventing versions or expanding partial parallels into complete parent checklists. Report unresolved relationships or coverage gaps rather than guessing. 11. Deliver a downloadable Excel (.xlsx) workbook with the exact worksheet names and headers above, not just tables in chat. If file creation is unavailable, say so explicitly and provide clearly labeled fallback tables without claiming they are import-ready. List every uncertain, unreadable, ambiguous, or missing fact separately outside the workbook's catalog fields. Do not put extraction warnings in Card Notes, silently normalize team names, merge people with matching names, or invent reusable subjects.
After upload, resolve team mappings, player and subject matches, hierarchy issues, and any highlighted errors in the site's preview before submitting for approval.
